1MW Procedures
Arrival: Children should enter through the main entrance and go directly to the auditorium. The children will line up at the WAGNER sign in the back left corner. Doors open at 8:25.
Snack: Each morning we will take a snack break – usually around 10:15. Please send in a healthy snack every day and pack it separately from lunch. There is no sharing or trading of snacks between students due to allergy and nutritional concerns.
Side Note: Thermos FUNtainer water bottles are the best – keep things cold all day and do not leak or spill (if you close them properly)!!
Personal Belongings: Kindly label your child’s outerwear. Many times clothing is left in our classroom or outside and no one claims it. I would like to avoid contributing to the Lost and Found.
Side Note: www.mabelslabels.com – has incredible labels that do not come off – great for clothes and water bottles
Homework and Correspondence: Please use the red folder for homework and notes. Assignments will be based upon concepts learned in class. Most assignments should be done independently and completed within 15 to 20 minutes. If this is not the case, please contact me if you are concerned. The folder and homework should return to school each day. If at all possible, please empty your child’s folder of the many notices we send home as well as completed classwork work each night; this will help your child easily unpack in the morning.
Neon Book Baggies: Students will bring home a book each night from their personalized book bin. Students are to read and discuss the book with someone at home. Students are to fill in their reading log each night and keep the log in their book baggie. Each day when students arrive to school, they will get a new book to bring home that night so please return book baggies each day. Book Baggies will remain in school over the weekend. If your child keeps bringing home the same book over and over and over (a few times is ok!), please let me know. Reading logs will be checked on Fridays.
Birthdays: We love to celebrate birthdays! Birthdays are a celebration with classmates. Therefore, please drop off a special snack (following the District’s Wellness Policy located on the school website) or a special treat such as a fancy pencil, eraser or bookmark (please no toys or goody bags). If your child has any type of food allergy, please send in a bag of special treats that I will hold onto and distribute to your child during celebrations as we are not allowed to provide them with food from anyone but you to ensure their safety. Parents do not attend school birthday celebrations.
